The Flyers were back at it to finish the series with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second part of the back to back. Let’s get into it.
Brian Elliott’s 500th game
What a monumental achievement for the starting goalie tonight. The man they call the “Moose” started in his 500th game, as he got the call against the Pens. Brian Elliott was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2003, he also played for Colorado, Calgary, St. Louis, and now the Flyers. A solid career he has had. Not such a solid game tonight though, after allowing six goals to the Penguins in a loss. Elliott saved 24 of 30 shots fired his way.
Crosby, IS STILL the Flyer hunter
Sidney Crosby had 69 points in the regular season inside the Well Fargo Center for his career entering tonight’s matchup, and he added three more before the final buzzer sounded off. Crosby netted two goals and chipped in an assist tonight. A big part of the win against the Flyers. The Penguins Captain always takes it to the “orange and black”, and looks like that will continue. Solid game.
Special teams not so special
Well, the story hasn’t changed much when it comes to the Flyers penalty kill. They allowed two Power Play goals on three chances the Penguins had. It’s been a rough year for the them for sure. This is something that must be a priority next season. The Power Play and Penalty Kill looks absolutely flat, something must be done.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
