The Flyers dreadful, injury riddled season again took place well over a week ago in Philadelphia, as Carter Hart was placed on IR (Injured Reserve) with an upper body injury. Samuel Ersson took full advantage of the situation as he went 3-0-0 in four consecutive starts for the big club.
Flyers Lineup Update:
Carter Hart will start tonight, per Flyers Head Coach John Tortorella. In addition, Kieffer Bellows was recalled from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. To make room for this recall, backup Goaltender Felix Sandström was sent back to the Phantoms for a conditioning stint, thus giving more time for Ersson to showcase his skills for the big club.
Sandström is no longer waivers exempt, as I wrote a good piece on this three goalie system earlier in the morning. The easiest way to cure this three goalie system was to either send Ersson back to the Phantoms (Waivers exempt), or have Sandström accept a conditioning stint with the big club.
Taking us back to Hart’s injury. The Flyers were getting pummeled, an onslaught was taking place with the Carolina Hurricanes up 6-2 with 17:52 to go in the second period. Hart goes down and everyone was left gasping for air. Now all of that can put to bed as Hart returns to action tonight.
