The Flyers finally got their offensive plays working in an epic showdown at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. There were some highs and lows thro0ughout this performance, but their perseverance really paid off which led to them taking a 5-4 win in overtime with a thriller Jakub Voracek goal.
Just 3:47 in to the opening period, the Flyers had an electrifying offensive possession where James van Reimsdyk gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead with a sweet backhand shot to beat Keith Kinkaid.
A few minutes later, the Flyers Ivan Provorov had a great wrist shot to the right edge of the net (assisted by Sean Couturier) to put the Flyers on top 2-0.
Unfortunately, Flyers Nolan Patrick went down with under seven minutes left to go when he got twisted with a defender and had to go to the bench and took some time off the ice, but he did return.
Minutes later Flyers Joel Farabee went down after trying to defend a shot that was trying to go past him. It ended up getting him in the inside part of the ankle and he had to limp back to the bench. He returned later in the game.
The Flyers dominated the first period, but the Rangers took control of the second period by scoring three straight goals.
Artemi Panarin had a beautiful one timer goal off a great pass from Ryan Strome. It was a wicked slap shot that beat Carter Hart to the right side. Panarin couldn’t balance himself through the shot and he landed on his stomach.

The game went to overtime and Carter Hart kept the games tied with a number of strong saves. Near the end of overtime, the Flyers Jakub Voracek stole a weak pass from Rangers goalie Keith Kincaid and came in on a breakaway. Vorachek was at the end of a 1 minute and 51 second shift, but was able to deke around Kincade and flip the puck into the net for a 5-4 Flyer win.
Fortunately, the Flyers are now 13-9-3 on the season after tonight’s spectacular 5-4 win at Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers, “I’ve got to make some more saves,” Carter Hart said following the game. Well, the defense has to play better too.
