The Flyers have been up and down throughout the course of the season. Even to start the season, they were just downright awful at times. They started the season behind the eight ball, with a record of 1-5-1, following a season opening victory against the Vancouver Canucks.
Matvei Michkov was formerly on a hot streak, to include winning three games in overtime. He’s been struggling the last five games or so, as he has hit the rookie wall. Michkov will rebound, sooner rather than later.
The Flyers need better Goaltending, and it starts with Samuel Ersson. They play the Anaheim Ducks today at 4pm, and Cutter Gauthier. Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella does not want to talk about Gauthier, “I don’t give a s..t what he says. I’m not going to answer any questions on Cutter Gauthier.”
“Yeah, with everything that happened. It’s definitely a day I circled on my calendar. I’m super excited to play,” Gauthier said following practice yesterday.
One thing the Flyers need to do is just win some hockey games. Again it starts with better defense and Goaltending. If Cam York and Jamie Drysdale get out of their funks, then the orange and black could be a lethal team down the stretch.
WJC Upset
Latvia won, Latvia won. They beat Canada for the first time ever at the WJC Tournament.
One positive last night was Jett Luchanko. He scored a beauty short-handed for Team Canada.
Luchanko had a good game, and what’s very baffling is he wasn’t used in the shootout. Weird decision that may have backfired for Canada.
