Chuck Fletcher spoke with the media today and addressed the current state of the Flyers, including adding updates on some injuries to key players.
Sean Couturier was injured on January 15th against the Penguins, after taking a hit from Jared McCann, injuring his rib. He was later diagnosed with costochondral separation. The Flyers are missing the key two-way centerman and will be without him for another 7-10 days, per GM Chuck Fletcher.
“Hopefully he’ll be able to come back in the next week. I’m not 100% sure. He’s made really good progress..hopefully in the next 7 to 10 days he could be a player for us. We’ll try to get a better update in the next day or so.” – Chuck Fletcher
Fletcher also gave an update on Morgan Frost. After Couturier was injured, Frost finally got called up to play an important role for the team. Unfortunately, that ended quickly, after a collision behind the Flyers net against the Buffalo Sabres forced him to exit the game with a dislocated shoulder. Frost is scheduled for surgery soon and will miss significant time.
“It will be months”, Fletcher stated on Morgan Frost, and hinted he will be getting him prepared to play next season.
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms also have a few players sidelined.
Newcomer, Wade Allison had surgery on his ankle and will look to return in about 4-6 weeks.
Isaac Ratcliffe had a fractured rib and a collapsed lung, and is still a few weeks away from returning. He has to get back to a few practices before he can play games as well.
