Chuck Fletcher gave an update on Sean Couturier and Ryan Ellis today on day one of Training Camp, and much more. Here we’re his notes to the presser with the media:
- Chuck Fletcher on Ryan Ellis: “I do not expect him to play this season, and if he plays it’s a bonus.”
- Fletcher says that Ryan Ellis’s injury could be career threatening.
- Fletcher said the Flyers have started contract negotiations with Travis Sanheim, “It’s our goal to sign him, if we don’t I don’t think it will be a distraction. As of now, everything has been amicable.”
- Fletcher: “We have a big talent here, and opportunities for younger players to step up.”
- Chuck Fletcher: “We are excited to prove people wrong.”
- Sean Couturier is not cleared to play and they should know more in the coming weeks. Ryan Fitzgerald suffered a lower body injury, and is out. Bobby Brink, Fletcher also mentioned is out (Everyone knows this).
- Fletcher did address the Carter Hart Hockey Canada investigation, he said any inquiries about such should be forwarded to the NHL, as the investigation is still on-going.
- As I have stated throughout the Summer surgery is not an option for Ryan Ellis at the moment:
“There’s a psoas component, there’s a hip component, there’s an adductor component, so I’m not sure if you go in and repair one part it’s going to fix everything.” – Chuck Fletcher
.
I cannot help but thing the Ryan Ellis injury was known about before the trade with Nashville. Why else would Nashville have traded him for what they got for him. But that’s just my opinion
