Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere held a brief meeting with the media yesterday before the Montreal game. Spoke on the situation with Alexei Kolosov, and he also gave fans a much-needed injury update from the beaten and battered blue line.
Injury Updates
“Seeler is getting closer. Small chance this weekend, maybe after this weekend. Drysdale is getting better and better, but not as close as Seeler is. Risto in his case we are not sure if he will be able to come back,” said Briere.
To break this all down, Seeler appears to be day to day, which is great news. The Flyers could definitely use his skill on the back end, and as Briere alluded to above he could return as early as this weekend.
This was a good report on Drysdale and where he stands. It appears that he could possibly return before the regular season concludes, maybe as early as the playoffs, but it appears there is a positive outlook that he could return before the season concludes.
It’s a darn shame for Rasmus Ristolainen. The Flyers are on the brink of nailing down a playoff spot, and playoff Risto may not even happen. It does not appear he will return this season, but anything can happen with injuries. All one can hope for is that he continues to get better and make improvements, then let’s see what happens.
Alexei Kolosov
“We are dealing with a lot of immigration stuff, so that’s why we don’t have an exact timeline. It seems just gets pushed out and pushed out. I think soon, but not an exact date. I would say he starts with the Phantoms at this point,” Briere said yesterday.
Kolosov will start with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, while it appears Ivan Fedotov will start his NHL career with the Flyers..
Briere it appears is waiting on clarification from the league if they are able to move one-for-one with another backup goaltender, with Felix Sandström being on an emergency recall.
