Joel Farabee Player Profile

Episode 14 – The Flyers Found Their Two-Way Sniper In Joel Farabee

Joel Farabee is the right kind of player to build around. Throughout the Flyers recent tenure there has always been a lack of depth on the left wing. Ironically when Claude Giroux made his shift to left wing, the depth on the wing grew immensely with some new faces. The cornerstone of this new found organizational depth on left wing is Joel Farabee. Sure there are veterans like Oskar Lindblom, James Van Riemsdyk and Scott Laughton available, but Farabee is the youngest of the bunch and already showing an ability to contribute on the highest level. And while these players are all successful in their own right, Farabee might bring that Sniper attitude the Flyers have missed in the past. With deceptive hands and sky high level hockey IQ, Farabee is setting himself up for high expectations.

Farabee is an elite two way forward prospect. Think somewhere in the mold of Jonathan Toews and Simon Gagne. The combination of attributes can create a highly valuable player, as both players have Stanley Cup rings. As you watch the young forward jump over older players on the depth chart, it’s a crucial indication that the player’s development is ahead of schedule.
