Great to see Scott Laughton and Travis Konecny back in the line-up. Hopefully guys keep rolling back in like gifts piling up under the tree as we head into the Holidays. This week has certainly had its share of ups and downs but it does feel like we are headed somewhere as the possibility of a fairly healthy Flyers hockey club looms on the horizon. The losing streak has come to an end at 10 games, unfortanately the team went right around that bend and into the brick wall known as the Tampa Bay Lightning. Right off the bat last night you could see Andrei Vasilevskiy was having the kind of night where the opposing team could not afford to give up any goals. The Flyers held it together during the 1st but by the end of a very disjointed 2nd it was clear how the night was going to go into the books. Unfortunately Tampa scored a goal off the end-boards from the red line that will be memorialized on blooper reels keeping this night alive for years to come.

Some quick hits from this amusing week in Flyers World; John Tortorella spent the week causing traffic jams across social media first by refusing to criticize his team, then just a few days later by comparing Morgan Frost to a “toilet seat”. Chuck Fletcher spoke publicly to clarify the team’s current situation leaving Fans in a total state of confusion as to the planned direction of the team. Kevin Hayes has proven to be one of the Flyers most consistent forwards this year, 24 points in 24 games. Kevin has been a bright spot keeping the team at least competitive even during the 10 game losing streak. This has left the usual suspects saying this would be the perfect time to trade him. And in the next breath saying that there is no way Chuck Fletcher should be allowed to make one more questionable move as GM. …So lets take the guy who has been holding the team together and trade him for another “great locker room guy” and a few rolls of tape. This is my home town and I love it but the “comments” sections can really blow your mind sometimes. And lastly, every second of that big win against the Islanders the other night was beautiful and I am looking forward to the team putting together more efforts like that one in the near future.

The Flyers get a chance to get back in the win column Saturday night 7PM against the New Jersey Devils at The Farg. Let’s Go Flyers!

  1. Coming into the season, we all knew that John Tortarella would be the American Standard for US born head coaches. But I’m not surprised to see a big splash. And Kevin Hayes is the fiber of the team. He really gets things moving. But after him, the Flyers seem to struggle to form a solid number 2 scorer. It’s mostly short bursts of scoring. The forward group is depleted and we can’t wait for the emergence of Brown. If these guys want to make the playoffs, they need to put their foot on the gas.

There seems to be a lack of urgency from the front office unless we get Scott on a roll. Or maybe the Flyers should just embrace the tank.

    1. Someone put so much work into this comment. This is the type of effort we need right now. Thanks for the laughs!
