Flyers were down 3-2 in the series against the New York Islanders. Win and force a game 7, lose and the season is over. On the game where Oskar Lindblom returns for his first game since December 7, 2019, the Flyers push the Isles to the brink and won an overtime thriller on a goal by Ivan Provorov in the second overtime. Let’s get into it.

#OskarStrong

How can we not talk about the return of Oskar Lindblom. What an absolute warrior he was to get back to play a playoff game. You can see he was a little behind on his skating, but he played a heck of a game, and had an heck of effort to get back from being diagnosed with bone cancer and  play in the playoffs. An Absolute warrior and I couldn’t be more happy to watch him play tonight. Lindblom garnered 17:30 of ice time, unbelievable, “I was just trying to think positive thoughts during the whole chemo,” Lindblom said following the game, “I knew I would play one day, but I didn’t know when. Today’s the day. I’m just lucky to be out there and be with these guys.”

Standing Tall

This playoff series has been a lot of dominating by the Islanders, and it’s tough to not see it. Carter Hart is stopping the pucks that are needed, and giving his team a huge chance to win every game. He’s a young goaltender, and getting better and better every game. Hart has especially been impressive in the 3 overtime victories.

Little Bit Of Luck

Finally, the Flyers get a “break” of their own (No pun intended).  In the second overtime, an Islanders defenseman took a shot and breaks his stick, sending Kevin Hayes the other way to set up Ivan Provorov for the game winner. This has not been something that had been going the Flyers way. It’s certainly great to see it happen.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!!
Flyers play Game 7 at 7:30pm on Saturday.
