After a huge surge up the NHL standings the Flyers finally lost a game after 9 consecutive wins. They played some excellent hockey over the past several weeks, but the victories couldn’t continue forever. As the injuries piled on the Flyers were unable to beat the leagues top team, the Boston Bruins. However, all is not lost and the Flyers still find themselves in an advantageous position to sprint to the playoffs. In addition Shayne Gostisbehere had his first opportunity to rejoin the starting lineup after missing a lot of time due to injury and the teams ability to consistently win. If no one was struggling, why bother taking anyone out?
Even though the Flyers are still riding on sunshine, the Coronavirus has finally made it’s way to the United States and sadly the NHL has been forced to suspend the season for what is rumored to be beginning of April. You can literally hear our hearts break at the end of the podcast when we find out the NBA season has been canceled. Pausing on a high note, the Flyers can at least see the silver lining as there are plenty of guys who could you use the time to get healthy. And considering the Flyers are already in a secure playoff spot with enough games to build momentum for a Stanley Cup Run, it could be worse. We know the NHL is committed to playing the Playoffs this season and the Flyers are in it.
