The Flyers are skidding, and are barely hanging on right before the All-Star break. They are now on a four-game skid, and shockingly they were given off today. They were given a full day off by Flyers’ head Coach John Tortorella, and it’s probably due to giving them a mental reset. Without further delay, here are our answers to your questions.
I envision Tyson Foerster grabbing a spot in the top six, and holding on to it. This is his rookie season, and he’s played well. Not scoring as much as he would hope, but this is the NHL it takes time to adapt. As it stands right now I could see a line of Joel Farabee-Matvei Michkov-Tyson Foerster. Maybe even Owen Tippett or Travis Konecny will factor in on this line in a few years.
Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere is the man that heads the ship in front of the media for the most part. If he acts out of the norm that has a trickle down effect to the team and coaching staff. You can bet your bottom dollar that everyone is watching how Briere is handling this situation. Carter Hart was beloved in that locker room, so to take him out of the mix, Briere pass to act come to soothe that locker room. In addition, everyone inside that locker room knows exactly what happened to Hart, and obviously the regime does too. The dots have been connected, it’s definitely about the Hockey Canada investigation in some way.
Nick Seeler will re-sign with Philadelphia by the trade deadline for 2-years $3-4 million $1.5-$2 million per year).
I think the Flyers will trade Sean Walker possibly, as early as, a week before the trade deadline, or at the trade deadline. Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere stated in his meat season presser on Wednesday that he “Will not make a trade just to make a trade,” rather he will get max value for Walker. I say Walker because I envisioned the Flyers re-signing Nick Seeler, although they like Walker too.
Samuel Ersson has been stellar this season. What has transpired this past week is a ripple down effect from the Carter Hart situation. That deflated the team a bit, but Ersson and the team need this All-Star break badly to clear their heads. Ersson will come back strong from the break, and continue his stellar season.
Carter Hart was not distracted by the Hockey Team Canada investigation. He said over and over that he did nothing wrong. Let’s see what transpires, and not draw conclusions yet. It’s important for the said victim to get justice, and I hope that happens in the end.
The Flyers traded for Cal Petersen and have kept Felix Sandström in the fold for a reason. Yes, Danny Briere stated that the Hockey Canada investigation was not the primary reason to keep a plethora of goalies in the system, but it sure feels that way. Briere, rightfully so, denied those claims, but in my mind they obviously have more information than us.
With that being said, this is a rebuild season, so the Flyers have no reason to seek another goalie, either in the trade market, or one that is not currently made available right now. The ornage and black should stick with this unit primarily.
There is no Ivan Fedotov update right now, but I will ask Danny Briere if there has been movement made at his pre-trade deadline presser that he will have in another month or so.
John Tortorella wants to keep most of his players on their playing side. What I mean is, for instance, if they are a left winger, than keep him on their natural side, the left side, if they can. This is no different, especially with Tyson Foerster being so young. Maybe in another year or so, maybe Tortorella will test things out with this, but not right now, unless he is forced to do so.
The KHL season is complete on February 26, 2024.
No one knows, but he did take a leave of absence, as everyone has found out now in relation to the Hockey Canada investigation, “We are aware of this morning’s press reports on a very serious matter. We will respond appropriately when the outcomes of the investigations are made public,” said Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere. They are referring anything in regards to Carter or the Hockey Canada investigation to the league’s office, as this has been an on-going process since last year.
“We don’t what is going to happen with Carter. The team has put themselves in a great situation, that’s the exciting part. The other exciting part is that Sam Ersson has taken a big step forward. We will have to protect him as much as we can, he’s still developing,” Briere said.
There is a press conference, spearheaded by London, Ontario police on February 5, 2024, and it will be streamed on facebook. This press conference will shed light on the Hockey Canada investigation. That’s it as of now with the Hart related “Personal Leave” of absence. He is presumed one of the five players associated with the Hockey Team Canada investigation that has to report to London, Ontario police to face questioning/surrender/charges. Let’s see what happens.
They have been released, as I stated earlier in the week:
