Jack Williams, Northeastern University, was one of 14 camp invites to Flyers Developmental Camp in 2024. Williams hails from Biddeford, Maine and was born on March 2, 2002. He is also a teammate to a highly favorable prospect by the Flyers’ Top Brass eyes in Hunter McDonald. I did ask McDonald on Monday if he was happy his teammate Jack Williams was at camp with him, “Good (He said smiling and laughing).” He then went onto to say, on a follow-up question by Jackie Spiegel of the Philadelphia Inquirer, that he believes Williams might be the Captain at Northeastern University next season, “He’s a leader, works hard, have nothing but good to say about him. Hope he has a good camp.”
Williams had good speed on day one, and it appears that trickled onto day two, as well. You get the sense that he is a solid two-way forward, as he seems to be defensive minded at least in the early going of Developmental Camp. What should be known is his knack for the net, he can score goals, as he netted 17 goals this past season in 34 games played. For the season, Williams scored 17 goals and finished with 19 assists for a total of 36 points in 34 games played.
Leadership is one of his major qualities. Obviously, he might be named Captain for Northeastern, as stated by Flyers prospect Hunter McDonald, but Williams is a former Captain of the Michigan Muskegon Lumberjacks in the United States Hockey League. He was named Captain of the team in the 2021-22 season. Williams, believe it or not, registered six goals and 11 assists in his rookie season for Northeastern in 35 games played. Pretty solid stats for a rookie by all means in the NCAA.

Now entering his third season for Northeastern, Williams sits as a free agent, in so far as, teams in the NHL. He is looking to earn a contract, and the Flyers could be a good fit for him. The Flyers did sign J.R. Avon, most recently, following a good Developmental Camp, Rookie Camp, and Training Camp. So the history of the Flyers signing undrafted free agents is there.
Williams continues to make an impact, leadership wise, and maybe that is another reason the Flyers brought in to Developmental Camp. He has good edge work to his skates, and he’s gritty. He wins puck battles, but knows how to evade a crowd with the puck too.
