It’s no secret to anyone who follows the Flyers on a regular basis, that Claude Giroux is a vital part to the teams overall success. As Giroux goes, so do the orange and black. When thinking of the Flyers best player of the decade there is no one even close to the player that Giroux was.

If you ask Giroux if he should be better, he will tell you he has to be better. Giroux wears his heart on his sleeve and always has been a team-first guy. However, the guy is a great Captain of the Flyers, and longest tenured Captain in Flyers history. He has tallied 278 goals, dished out 590 assists for a grand total of 868 points, which is the third most points in Flyers history. What more does the Captain have to do to show people how good he is or has been throughout his career?

Giroux sits 19th in the NHL in points over the course of the last five seasons. One would never think a minority of Flyers fans were calling him to be traded this past offseason, even though he finished tied for first on the time in points with 43 for the 2020-21 season, but unfortunately they did.

“I think can make this team better. I want to win. I’m pretty pissed off at the position we’re in right now.”– Claude Giroux said at exit interviews in 2021

Its mind boggling that he still fights for respect in Philadelphia when he more than likely (Barring Injury) will move into second place all-time in Flyers points this season. Bill Barber currently sits in second place with 883 points, while Giroux sits with 868 points as mentioned above. Giroux is a great player, and should be more respected for his services as a Flyer, as he enters his last season under contract with the Flyers.

Giroux is aging like a fine wine. He is sizzling to start the 2021-22 season, as Giroux now has tallied five goals, and registered five assists on the short season thus far. As Giroux ages, he simply gets better it appears. The Captain appears to be determined to right the ship this season, and Flyers fans are reaping the benefits of such right now.
