It’s no secret to anyone who follows the Flyers on a regular basis, that Claude Giroux is a vital part to the teams overall success. As Giroux goes, so do the orange and black. Giroux is the engine that runs the Flyers. Even with all his overall success throughout his career statistics wise, some Flyers fans think that he is not a leader in the locker room. This has been one misconception for a few years now.
A leader as defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary is “a person who leads” well that is Giroux as he leads the Flyers, “G’s a great leader for us,” Carter Hart said yesterday. “He plays the game really hard. He cares so much.”
These are big words coming from Hart. The way he speaks of Giroux as this article goes on this can only be true with the way he explains everything in detail. If a person was around the team, or in the locker room then they would be able to see what type of a leader Giroux really is.
If you ask Giroux if he should be better, he will tell you he has to be better. Giroux wears his heart on his sleeve and always has been a team-first guy. However, the guy is a great Captain of the Flyers, and second longest tenured Captain in Flyers history. He helps out the youth and really cares about his teammates, “Even off the ice, he’s an awesome guy, especially for us younger guys. He treats us so well. Always includes us in activities and always asks how we are doing. For me as a younger guy, to have him to look up to as our captain, he’s awesome.”

The fact is Giroux cares about his teammates, to include the youth. Multiple players mentioned Giroux as a person who was organizing Zoom calls before the pause to keep the team united, “Always includes us in activities and always asks how we are doing,” Hart said. “For me as a younger guy, to have him to look up to as our captain, he’s awesome.”
Giroux really is a leader for this team. He leads on and off the ice. Giroux is so well respected throughout the locker room, and the league for that matter for a reason. He commands respect, and with that as G goes so does the Flyers.
