Last season was anything but blissful for the Flyers and their proud faithful. They really struggled, and were embarrassed throughout the course of the season as they finished with a record of 25-46-11 (61 points).

Cam York, appears to be NHL ready and is excited for the new season to begin, “I’m really excited (For the season), new coach, new staff, new faces around,” York said after teaching some youth the sport of hockey at Flyers School on Wednesday in Voorhees, NJ. “Good to be back with everybody.”

Another reason and quite possibly the biggest reason he should win a spot with the big club is to sell tickets, and to keep Flyers fans interested in this club. The Flyers are free falling in Philadelphia, and they have to give a reason for fans to buy tickets. The youth, like York seeing regular game action might incline people to buy a ticket or two. People want to see York, possibly Egor Zamula, Wade Allison, Tanner Laczynski, Isaac Ratcliffe, and Linus Sandin play during this free fall. All of these aforementioned players should get a shot to see what they have at some points this coming season.

It appears York wants to help the Flyers right the ship, as he vows to take the next step in his development. Mind you, York has been training and dieting in Voorhees, NJ since early June in preparations of this upcoming season:

“After the year like last year, we want to make a statement this year. Camp can’t come soon enough.” – Cam York

York is a confident blueliner and skates well. One of the best qualities he possesses is on the offensive side of the puck is his shot accuracy. He hits the net nine times out of ten, and he showed that while quarterbacking the top Power Play unit at times last season. York was great with cycling the puck, and holding the pucks in at the blue line thus extending zone play for the Flyers. These are attributes he was known for while playing with a renown program like the University of Michigan.

The sky is the limit for York, but he appears confident he will make the team and help the team right the ship from last season. Last season for the Flyers was very murky (To say it nicely), now it’s up to the young prized prospects to showcase what they can do this season.

  1. Ah, yes, Csm York… another project taking as much time as needed to become NHL-Ready.

Meanwhile in Montreal, Cole Caufield is progressing on schedule, and should play a larger role with the Habs this season.

We could’ve/would’ve/should’ve drafted him, but no… we had to be ‘defensive’ in that draft.

Any idea on who’ll be scoring goals for us this year?
