Jan Bednar, a Goaltender, is currently ranked #71 on Bob Mckenzie’s list for the upcoming 2020 NHL Draft. Bednar hails from Karlovy Vary, CZE, and was born on August 26, 2002. He moves post to post well, check out his interview with me below:

What is one of the biggest factors of trying to stay calm/relaxed in net?

Jan – “ I’m really focuses on every next shot and I think it’s just a game and just win or lose nothing more. So, yes I’m calm in net but I’m so focused too.”

Who are some of your Goalie Idols? Anyone from your hometown or anything along those lines?

Jan – “ I have more favorite goalies, but I don’t have a idol. I like Mike Smith, Pekka Rinne, Connor Hellebuyck or Carter Hart, Braden Holtby and more and more…”

Chris – “ I LOVE how you said Carter Hart, that’s amazing to hear. Very good goalies on that list.”

Jan – “ Yes he is amazing. I love his rituals😂”

What have you been doing to keep yourself occupied? Any differences in training, workout, etc?

Jan – “ I just work hard every day. On the ice, but in off-ice too. I work on my agility and speed.”

What was the transition from Junior to Pro like for you?

Jan – “ I was really nervous before first game at the Pro league, but I don’t have any problems with transition from Junior to Pro but I have problem with transition from Pro to Junior… it was harder for me. But, in Pro I feel good.”

Thanks again to Jan for taking the time to talk with me! I had a blast! Can’t wait to see this kid get drafted, and
