The Flyers could use a Power Forward that knows how to put the puck in the net. Ethan Bowen is a 6’2, 170 pound Center that can score, score, and score again. He’s exactly the prototype player the Flyers lack right now.
Bowen is physical, sturdy on his skates, and just has a knack for the net. He played for the Chilliwack Chiefs in 2018-19 where he tallied 19 goals, and 20 assists in 58 games played. Moreover, for the Chiefs in 2019-20 he tallied 12 goals, and 19 assists in 41 games played. Bowen would be more than capable of providing a net front presence, and potting a big goal due to his size, “My family can’t wait (For the Draft),” Bowen said to me in an interview. “It’s something we have always been looking forward to. It was me and my dad’s dream when we were younger.”
“My dad defined me. He played high level hockey when I was younger too. He knows exactly what I need to do to further my career.”- Ethan Bowen

Hockey runs in Bowen’s family. This native of Chilliwack, BC, CAN in Ethan Bowen started playing at a young age. His dad, Steve Bowen, has instilled hard-work and to never take a shift off into Ethan, as Ethan exclaimed to me. His dad played for the Chilliwack Eagles in 1987-88, so as Ethan described above he knows exactly what it takes to succeed in this sport, “It’s unbelievable to be playing here in Chilliwack,” Ethan Bowen said. “With growing up around here it makes it 10 times better to put on that Crest. When you’re younger you look up to the players and want to be like some of them. It’s a huge honor to play for them (Chilliwack Chiefs), and they are the best Junior hockey program in hockey.”
“Jamie Benn is a guy that I always looked up to, he plays a smart game.” -Ethan Bowen

Bowen is one of the highest ranked draft eligible players that the BCHL has to offer. He suffered a broken wrist in his draft year, but overcame it successfully, hence the reason for his drop in the rankings as he sits at #119 NHL Central Scouting (NA skaters), according to eliteprospects. He became a 200 foot player, as one could really see him improve his game throughout the neutral zone and defensive zone.

He is not afraid to get to the dirty areas to pot a goal, but he is a fast skater even with his size. Bowen can board battle, and just play game the right way, “You might miss an opportunity to score if you take a shift off,” Bowen said. “I’m a 200 foot player that can put the puck in the net, a Power Forward, with stick and puck handling skills. A crafty, pretty hard-working guy in the neutral zone and defensive zone.”
The Flyers would love to draft a player like Bowen that has committed to the University of North Dakota starting in the 2021-22 season. He is a pure goal scorer, and one that doesn’t take a shift off. The Flyers would benefit from a player that knows and is not afraid to shoot the puck. Well, Ethan Bowen is that player, and he will be on the Flyers radar come Wednesday at the NHL Draft.
