The first period went well for the Flyers. It appeared that they did everything right, to include a once struggling power play. Coming into this tilt against the Columbus Blue Jackets the Flyers were 9-1 when leading after one.

Bobby Brink scored in his first game back, and he said it was nice to get that goal. Brink said he watched Travis Konecny and Cam Atkinson a lot when he was benched  to see what makes them successful. He said they play right wing, and they are similar in stature to him, “Yeah it was good to get back in. I think I brought some energy. I think I brought some hard work, just excited to get into the lineup,” Brink said following the game.

The Flyers were short-handed, however, the Flyers managed to take the league lead in short-handed goals on this night after scoring a clutch goal. This was their fifth short-handed goals of the season. The Blue Jackets did score in this stanza, but the Flyers were too much for them defensively.

Fortunately, the orange and black scored an empty netter in the third period to seal the deal for a 5-2 victory. Samuel Ersson said the team is in very much good shape, “Winning is fun and it’s giving us momentum,” Ersson said following the game.

John Tortorella said that Ryan Poehling had a very good camp. He reiterated that Poehling can skate and that he wanted to see him in the top nine of the lineup. Tortorella also said that he likes how Poehling only signed a one-year deal, proving that he would bank on hisself.

Overall, this was a great win for the Flyers. Now let’s see if they can keep up the momentum of their five game winning streak in New York against the Islanders.
