Giroux is the engine that runs the Flyers. Last year the Captain had another solid campaign. Even with that, he still thinks he can be better, “I think everyone is on the same level, everyone liked good out there. Of course, we all can be better,” Giroux said to me in September.
Now there is another cause that Giroux, and the rest of his teammates are fighting for…Oskar Lindblom. Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma last week. The team and hockey community for that matter, has rallied behind him. It was great that Lindblom was with his teammates following last night’s 4-1 victory.
The 31-year-old in Giroux is a leader on and off the ice. Lindblom’s situation has affected the entire Flyers team, and they are now rallying behind Lindblom, “We wanted to get this win for him, and every win for the rest of the season will be for him,” Giroux said following the victory last night. He has dedicated the rest of the season to Lindblom.
Giroux was one of the fastest skaters last night, and that cannot be taken with a grain of salt. He meant those words before he even said them last night, and it’s pretty neat Giroux potted the first goal of the night.
Watchout NHL teams. The Flyers seem fueled for the rest of the season.
