Scott Laughton is an underrated player. He is the kind of guy that can be plugged in anywhere within the lineup. Laughton is an aggressive Forward. He first came to the Flyers during the 2012-13 season. Laughton also played with the Phantoms that season. Even though, Laughton did not score any goals or record any assists, he ended the season with five game points. The following season Laughton returned to the Oshawa Generals and recorded 40 goals, 47 assists totaling 54 game points.
During the 2014-2015 season, he returned to the Flyers/Phantoms rosters. Laughton had two goals, and four assists in 31 games played. During the 2015-2016 season Laughton finally played on a full-time basis with the Flyers. Laughton scored seven goals, and fourteen assists in 71 games played. The following season he played with the Flyers/Phantoms rosters. He had zero goals and zero assists, but only managed to play in two games. All of this is proof of how versatile a player he is. Every team needs a player who will be consistent no matter the position or line he is placed in.
In the 2017-2018 season, Laughton played with the Flyers on a full-time basis once again. At this point Laughton was starting to become noticed, as he saw more time within the lineup. This is when Laughton made his mark within the Flyers organization. He scored ten goals, and ten assists in 81 games played. During the 2018-2019 season, Laughton scored 12 goals, and 20 assists in 82 games played.
In this current season, Laughton has scored 13 goals, and 14 assists in 49 games played. Keep in mind that this is an abbreviated season. This was just the beginning for Scotty Laughts. He plays both center and wing, and he fits in anywhere within the lineup. Asides from his skill and obviuos good sense of humor, Laughton is determined and focused. Think back to earlier this season when he broke his finger. During his first game back, Brady Tkachuk checked Scott Laughton so hard that Laughton tumbled to the ice. Tkachuk jumped on top of Laughton and began punching him. Laughton was defenseless as it was his first game back after breaking his finger. He finally got his revenge by scoring a goal, then he began to chirp at the Ottawa Senators bench.
Scott Laughton is an underappreciated player. All teams could benefit from having a guy like Laughton on their team. There is a reason he is playing in the top six at the moment, and he leads the Flyers team in playoff goals with three.
