Cherry Hill native Bobby Ryan overcame alcohol and substance abuse, and rightfully won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy last night. The winner was announced before the Tampa Bay Lightning in New York Islanders played game one of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Of course, Oskar Lindblom but the voting was concluded before the playoffs began. Lindblom is more than happy to have his life, than an award. However, Ryan spoke very highly of Lindblom and followed him as the playoffs progressed.
“I’m tremendously impressed with Oskar,” Ryan said, “He is equally deserving of this honor.”
Ryan is nothing but class, as he thanked his wife multiple times for supporting him, and now he is a better father. He even called this “A family award.” The hockey community supports one another, and Ryan supports Oskar Lindblom. To be truthful all three players were deserving of this award to include Stephen Johns. But on this one special night for Ryan, he continued to praise Lindblom as he told me:
“I’m so proud of him (Oskar),” Ryan said, “I hope he continues to kick ass.”
Nothing but class from Ryan. He deserved this award as much as anyone, and he just says the right things. Ryan continues to support Oskar Lindblom, so we should continue to support Ryan.
My god, do you people even bother to proofread this stuff before you post it?
