The Flyers have recalled defenseman Emil Andrae multiple times in recent seasons, with the most recent recall occurring on March 7, 2025, alongside forwards Rodrigo Abols and Olle Lycksell from the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Today, the Flyers recalled Andrae once again, while loaning Dennis Gilbert to Lehigh. This move was made to fill roster gaps, with the injury to Cam York. It appears York will not play tomorrow in the home opener against the defending champs, the Florida Panthers.
Andrae, a 23-year-old Swedish defenseman drafted in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft, has shown promise. In the 2024-25 season, he played 27 games with the Flyers, recording one goal, five assists, and a plus-2 rating, averaging 18:42 of ice time per game. His advanced stats are notable, with a 52.44% Corsi For percentage and a 58.43% expected goals for percentage at five-on-five, leading Flyers defensemen in these metrics. However, his performance dipped slightly since his March 2025 recall, with a 42.35% Corsi For percentage.
