Egor Zamula is so impressive, and continues to lead you to question how he went undrafted. Zamula is oozing with talent and potential, and one of a few things that has held him back is getting bigger and stronger to handle the rigors of a full NHL season, “Being faster in the game,” Zamula said is one area that the Flyers told him to improve upon. “Being stronger and keep the right position.”

“Been in Russia. Trained with the coaches down in his hometown. Playing a lot of one-on-ones. Working in the gym to be stronger and faster.”– Egor Zamula on where he trained in the offseason.

Originally, I was concerned about him in terms of building strength. Yes, I know this comes in time, but he has the tools to help the Flyers now, although patience is needed, especially with the log jam of Flyers Left-Handed defensemen. Plus, it is always good to air on the side of caution. However, since seeing video of him in camp, and how well he looks especially. It also helps that Cam York is roommate at developmental camp. This could help his English, and well these two young defensemen can grow their games together, “He’s a really good guy,” Zamula said of Cam York via his translator Slava. “He’s nice to have a conversation with him. He’s rooming with him in the hotel. He’s a good player. Egor was watching at the World Juniors. It’s proof he’s a good player. He was wishing him good luck.”

Zamula plays an efficient two-way game while having the potential to be a great quarterback of the power play in this league. Again, what more could you ask for especially in someone undrafted. That’s exactly the high hopes this organization and fan base has for Zamula, as he played solid hockey for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms last season with tallying six assists in 25 games played, while registering a plus 1. Zamula is slated to be a defensive difference maker for our Orange and Black for years to come, and he has the wheels to be this type of difference maker. Zamula is an excellent skater, and his edge cuts are precise.

It’s always nice to have a mentor like Flyers star defenseman Ivan Provorov to take you under his wing, and that is what has transpired with Zamula. The two have gotten to become very close and for all we (Media) know is that this relationship began last year at training camp, “They keep connected the whole summer,” Zamula said via Slava his translator. “They had conversations, text conversations. He was always asking how you’re training and etc. Cannot wait to see him when he’s going to arrive to Philadelphia.”

Whatever the case maybe for Zamula and the Flyers he believes he is ready for the rigors of an 82 game NHL season, “He’s ready to join the big guys,” Zamula said via his translator Slava. “Playing big role on the ice. Playing a lot of minutes and getting ready for the high level (With the Phantoms last season sure helped he said).” What the future holds is anyone’s guess, but in Zamula’s case it appears he will start the 2021-22 season with the Phantoms (Barring injuries).
