With February almost over, it’s time to assess the Flyers’ performance and their chances of making the playoffs. Through 58 games played, they hold down a record of 25-26-7 with 57 points. They find themselves tied for sixth place in the Metropolitan Division with the New York Islanders.

In the wildcard race, the Flyers are five points behind the Ottawa Senators for the last spot and are currently tied points-wise with the Montreal Canadiens and Islanders. They still have a lot of work to do as they still have to leapfrog six teams to have a chance.
The Flyers only have 24 games remaining in the 2024-25 season. They’ll finish up February with a home-and-home series with the Pittsburgh Penguins and then turn the page to March.
The month of March is filled with tough competition from start to finish. The Flyers will be up against powerhouse teams such as the Winnipeg Jets, Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals, and so on. Everyone is going to have to be on their A-game if they’re going to have any chance of seeing the playoffs.
A positive thing to talk about briefly is the health of the team. Owen Tippett, Ryan Poehling, Egor Zamula, and Rasmus Ristolainen all returned to play against the Edmonton Oilers last Saturday. Tippett came out fired up as he scored two goals to lead the Flyers to a 6-3 victory that night. Matvei Michkov and Sean Couturier deserve some credit as well even though they weren’t injured. Both collected three points in that game with a goal and two assists.
The March 7th trade deadline is something that should pique Flyers fans’ interest as well. Will they be sellers? Will they hold on to hope and add some young talent? Only time will tell.

The Flyers play five games before the trade deadline. These games should help determine what route they’ll take whilst putting into consideration their position.
Samuel Ersson continues to keep the Flyers in games all night long. Could he be the key that helps the Flyers get into the playoffs? Through 32 games played (31 started), he holds down a record of 17-10-3, a 2.81 goals against average (GAA), and a .894 save percentage.
To put everything into visual perspective, Alexander Appleyard broke down what the Flyers have to do to reach the playoffs. They have their work cut out for them. That’s for sure.
