Today’s news has not been good for Flyers fans. Flyers Phenom Carter Hart has hit the shelf for 2 to 3 weeks, Joel Farabee was sent down to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Alex Lyon was recalled, but the good news is Chris Stewart has been waived. With waiving Stewart the Flyers will save $750,000 when he clears waivers, thus in turn that would give the Flyers approximately $1.54 million in cap space.

A young 19-year-old in Farabee, and his $925,000 cap hit could then be recalled to the Flyers, after Stewart clears waivers at noon tomorrow. Do not panic Flyers fans, with Stewart being waived the intent is to bring Farabee back up to the big club tomorrow against the Montreal Canadiens. Drafted by the Flyers in 2018 at 14th overall. Farabee has seen action with Phantoms earlier this season, where he torched his opponents. Farabee registered three goals, to go along with one apple in four games played, before bring recalled to the Flyers. Not too shabby I must say. Moreover, Farabee became an asset for the Flyers. Yes, he only produced 12 points (3g,9a) in 37 games played, but he killed penalties, and stuck up for his teammates in the process. On Monday night against the Boston Bruins, it appeared Farabee was like Donald Brashear, as he was involved in a few scrums. The kid has a ton of grit.

The thing with Joel is his game is so much more advanced than the other kids,” Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher said yesterday, “He’s one of the best Forwards with puck management. I wish he could get more than 10 minutes a night.”

Fletcher loves Farabee’s game. The depleted Flyers team (Injuries) can use Farabee, as he does the little things well. He draws penalties, and plays solid defense. Make no mistake about it, Farabee will be back with the Flyers before you know it.

  1. I was glad to see he was sent down then disappointed to read he is coming back up. He is not ready for the NHL. He is invisible most games and gets pushed off the puck often. While I believe he is a high character player, I would disagree with “a ton of grit.” Did you see his “fight” against Pageau? It looked like 2 eighth graders.

  2. Also, the Flyers got pushed around by bigger teams. We need more guys like AUK and Freidman who are hard to move. And Stewart is not the answer either.
