The Philadelphia Flyers season has come to an end in a 4-0 loss to the New York Islanders. A series in which we saw the #1 team in the Eastern Conference battle to win two straight to even the series at 3-3, and force a Game 7 matchup. Let’s get in to it.

Where is the team?

With everything on the line, the Flyers did not show up. It was one of the worst performances in my time of covering the team I have ever witnessed. The team was outplayed, outskated, and outcoached the entire series. The team had to perform the best they could in order to advance. I had the chance to speak to Flyers fan Chris Cunliffe on his thought of the game and how bad of a game it really was and he said, “Bad game? Did you guys watch the same thing I did? That wasn’t a bad game. That was no heart, no hustle, no desire to advance. You win two in a row to force a game 7 and they can’t even hustle to the bench on a shift change. Out there lolligagging on one skate over to the bench, heads in the skies. Bad game my a**. No heart.” He is exactly right. The team Played with absolutely no heart at all.

Aging Veteran’s

For most of the series the leaders of the team were non existent. The way the Flyers had played last night shows that there is still a lack of leadership. I believe going into the offseason, and potentially a shorter offseason. The team should look to to change the surface of the team. Moving on from some of the veteran players if Chuck Fletcher can with the likes Janes can Riemsdyk and Jake Voracek, even possibly Claude Giroux (NMC). This team is going to go far in the future, but with aging players it may be time to make a move.

Carter Hart

Hart has heart. What can I say, Carter Hart was nothing short of spectacular for this playoff run. The sole reason this team had forced a game 7 was due to his ability to stop the puck and “steal a win”. Nothing short of sensational, he certainly camnot get much blame for this terrible loss, multiple times he was left out to dry and was forced to bail out the team on lack of hustle and poor defense. The future is bright for Carter Hart.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!!
