Flyers’ prospect Denver Barkey (20-year-old forward, drafted 95th overall in 2023) was recalled from the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms on December 19, 2025. He is expected to make his NHL Debut on December 20 against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Barkey’s grandfather, Randy Legge, played 12 NHL games as a defenseman for the New York Rangers in the early 1970s (along with time in the WHA). Several of those games were at the current Madison Square Garden (opened in 1968), making this debut venue especially meaningful for the family—Barkey has often spoken about his grandpa as a key inspiration in his hockey journey. (Note: Randy Legge passed away in 2023.)

The recall makes sense too, he’s playing well. Barkey made a beautiful stretch pass to Alex Bump for the lone goal against Springfield this past Wednesday night. Those are the type of plays Barkey makes on a regular, especially when he’s confident.
