Denver Barkey expressed positive vibes about having his Lehigh Valley Phantoms teammates Oliver Bonk, Carson Bjarnason, and Hunter McDonald join him for practice during the NHL’s Olympic break.

Denver Barkey on Carson Bjarnason, Oliver Bonk, and Hunter McDonald being recalled, “It’s been great. When I found out that they were coming up, I was pretty pumped. Some younger guys, and familiar faces around. It’s been nice to have them here, we went out to dinner last night.”
Barkey, already up with the Flyers for a stint, got some familiar faces from the AHL affiliate to skate with—making it a fun, comfortable reunion for the young prospects. They even grabbed dinner together off the ice.

It’s a classic development opportunity during the break: prospects get NHL-speed reps, and the team evaluates them up close. All three (Bonk, McDonald, and Bjarnason) were later assigned back to the Phantoms as the break wrapped up.
The camaraderie among these Phantoms products is priceless—Barkey clearly enjoyed the company!
