Both Denver Barkey and Oliver Bonk are good two up-and-coming Flyers prospects, and both have shared equally good seasons this past season for the London Knights. More importantly, it has filtered into the playoff season, as once again the Knights smashed the Oshawa Generals this past Saturday night in the OHL Finals.
The Knights share a commanding 2-0 lead in the series, and that is courtesy of Barkey and Bonk. Both Flyers prospects scored a combined seven points this past Saturday night, while Bonk registered three assists on the power play and Barkey registered two assists with the man advantage.
What more could be said about this pair. Bonk is absolutely phenomenal with the man advantage, with that being his bread and butter. He just cycles the puck so well, while Barkey is equally as good with the man advantage. Barkey doesn’t lose many puck battles, and that is one attribute that Jake Voracek excelled at.
For the playoffs, Barkey has registered a whopping five goals and 17 assists in 16 playoffs games played, while Bonk has registered six goals and seven assists in 16 games played. This is with all the Flyers top brass in attendance for the majority of the playoffs.
Could the Flyers also be scouting rookies, such as, Sam Dickinson or Sam O’Reilly? You betcha, that’s exactly one of the reasons they are there scouting the games. If Matvei Michkov does indeed come over for the 2024-25 season, could that entice Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere to move up from pick 12, to snag Dickinson, whom is a Left-Handed Defenseman.
What happens next is anyone’s guess, but one thing for certain is the London Knights are a powerhouse. They are a renown hockey program in the OHL, but Mark Hunter (Knights General Manager) has built a powerhouse. With Barkey and Bonk leading the way, this young Knights team are just two games away from glory, with winning the J. Ross Robertson Cup, which is awarded to the OHL Champion.
