Dan Vladar has absolutely been a breath of fresh air for the Flyers this season. After signing a two-year, $6.7 million deal as a free agent from Calgary last July, the 28-year-old Czech goaltender has stepped up in a major way as the team’s No. 1 starter—a title he hasn’t had before.

Vladar’s thriving in the role, posting career-best numbers like 21 wins (already surpassing previous highs), a GAA in the low 2.50s (2.46 to be exact), and a .905 Save Percentage through 41 appearances. That’s kept the Flyers competitive and in the playoff conversation longer than many expected.
Vladar is the team’s MVP or unsung hero—holding the fort on nights when the team struggles (like in recent shootout losses or tough matchups). He’s making the most of his chance and even showing leadership qualities that Flyers’ Head Coach Rick Tocchet has praised.

Without him, the record would look a lot rougher for your Philadelphia Flyers. He’s been steady, a reliable force the Flyers desperately needed in net. If he keeps this up, talks of a longer-term extension this offseason wouldn’t surprise anyone.
