Dan Vladar’s current injury is indeed a significant blow for the Flyers. He signed with the Flyers as a free agent in July 2025 on a two-year, $6.7 million deal after spending the previous four seasons with the Calgary Flames.

This season (2025-26), he’s emerged as one of their top performers in net, posting a strong 12-5-3 record through 20 appearances, along with a 2.41 GAA and .910 save percentage. He’s been a revelation—helping stabilize a goaltending position that was a weakness for Philly in prior years and even earning early-season MVP chatter for the team.

As of December 20, 2025, Vladar is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury, forcing the Flyers to recall Aleksei Kolosov from the AHL on an emergency basis to back up Samuel Ersson.

While it’s not expected to be a long-term absence based on current reports, losing even a short stretch of Vladar’s play hurts, especially given how much he’s contributed to keeping the Flyers competitive in the Metropolitan Division. If the injury lingers, it could force more reliance on Ersson (who’s been solid but sharing the load) or the unproven Kolosov.

Without Vladar, the Flyers just may not be the same team. It appears that when Vladar is in net the rest of the team is calm and relaxed. He makes the tough saves look easy.
