Three Flyers prospects played each other sort of speak yesterday at the WJC Summer Showcase. It was Team USA White featuring Cole Knuble and Cutter Gauthier, while Devin Kaplan suited up for Team USA Blue. Cole Knuble was a Right-Winger, while Gauthier was on the Left-Wing for this tilt.

Knuble absolutely smashed it yesterday. He was decisive with his decision, pouncing on pucks, and made some really nice shots on net. He netted two goals, and I’m sure he impressed Head Coach David Carle into getting another shot to showcase his skills.

Gauthier really shines in these events. He made some good reads, and he had excellent vision of the ice. Gauthier actually skated well, and I want to hone in on that. His skating appears to be NHL caliber, and he netted one goal and registered one assist of his efforts. Gauthier will make this team in the Winter, no doubt about that.

Kaplan wants to get better this season at Boston University he told us at Developmental Camp. He has good playmaking abilities, and Kaplan has actually improved in his skating. I’m not saying he’s a bad skater, as he is very good in transition, but you can sense he’s honed in this area. He still possesses good vision of the ice, and can score in tight areas. He skated well off the wing and registered an assist for Team Blue in the 7-3 loss. Kaplan may seem like a long shot to make this team in the Winter, but he appears to be finishing strong.
