Philadelphia, PA – Whew. The Flyers take down the defending cup champs. The Flyers defeated Vegas 4-3 in overtime. Coots, Sean Couturier netted the game-winning goal just a minute into the overtime session. Five combined goals in the second period, and no tallies in the third. Philadelphia is now tied for the current longest win streak at four consecutive wins, along with Dallas.

A good period for the orange & black in which they doubled Vegas’ shot total. The shots were 16-8 in favor of Philly, and they netted the lone goal. Owen Tippett netted the goal, a power play tally on Sanheim’s rebound. Tippett’s power-play goal, his seventh goal of the season came at the 15:29 mark. Easily could’ve been 2-0 or 3-0, but Logan Thompson came up big for Vegas. Thomspon 15 saves on 16 shots in the frame.
Tyson Foerster opened up the period for the Flyers just 59 seconds in. Forrester, probably thinking finally as he celebrated, netted the wrister on the man advantage. William Karlsson put Vegas on the scoreboard. Karlsson’s goal, taking full advantage of the Tippett turnover and firing it to the blocker side on Hart at 4:01. Johnathan Marchessault knotted things up. Marchessault’s spin-o-rama backhander beat Hart’s short side at the 15:00 mark of the frame. Sean Walker put the Flyers back on top. A beautiful snipe from just inside the blue line put Philadelphia ahead at 15:25. An unfortunate amount of penalties for Hart, put Vegas on a crucial 5-on-3 man advantage. Two back-to-back holding calls were assessed to Konnecny and Walker and a cross-check on Laughton all in a span of a minute. Johnathan Marchessault took full advantage, netting his second of the contest late in the period at the 19:05 mark.
No goals in the third frame for either side. Hart stopped all 10 shots he faced, and Thompson stopped the 5 he saw.So we headed to overtime with no winner decided in 60 minutes of play. Sean Couturier just a minute in netted the game-winner. Couturier’s fourth of the season, game-winning goal was a pass intended for Konnecny that Travis let slide five-hole past Thompson.
Carter Hart stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced in the win, Logan Thompson stopped 34 of the 38 he faced in the overtime loss.
Philadelphia was 2/4 on their power play chances. The Golden Knights were held to 1/4 on their power play opportunities.
The Flyers wrap up their two-game home skid, against the Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow night, November 19th at 5:30 p.m. They then hit the road for Elmont, New York, facing off against the Islanders on Wednesday, November 22nd at 7:30 p.m.
