It’s no secret to anyone who follows the Flyers on a regular basis, that Claude Giroux is a vital part to the teams overall success. As Giroux goes, so do the orange and black. Giroux is the engine that runs the Flyers. Even with all his overall success throughout his career statistics wise, there are still some people that don’t give him the respect he rightfully deserves because he has not lead his team to a Stanley Cup.
In hindsight, it’s very tough to win one of the most coveted trophies in all of sports, but hopefully one day Giroux will command his troops to a Stanley Cup victory. Even so much so, Giroux is hoping it will be with the orange and black:
“To play for one team your whole career, that’s something to be proud of. If I can, that’d be great.”– Claude Giroux

The fact is Giroux cares about his teammates, to include the youth. Multiple players mentioned Giroux as a person who was organizing Zoom calls, is a leader in the locker room. I mean Philippe Myers earlier in the season said, “Happy he is on my team” and that he is Captain of the Flyers, “He played well for us last year,” Claude Giroux said of Myers, “He played well in the playoffs. He’s growing as a player. Offensively and defensively, he’s reliable. Nisky meant a lot to this team, killing penalties, power play, playing against the best lines. I think it’s a great opportunity for the young players that we have on our team to be able to get more ice time and then get that opportunity. With Phil, off the ice and on the ice, he’s a hard working guy. He wants to learn and because of that, he is where he is right now. Sometimes for players, the best thing for them is to go back down in the American League, play a lot of minutes and learn about pro hockey. For him, you can just see the steps he took from two years ago to last year. We expect him to keep growing. He’s a fun teammate. When you have a teammate that wants to learn, he’s always fun to be around.”
Giroux really is a leader for this team. He leads on and off the ice. Giroux is so well respected throughout the locker room, and the league for that matter for a reason. He commands respect, and with that as G goes so does the Flyers. Giroux moved into third place All-Time in Flyers history with 850 points, surpassing Brian Propp. If Giroux wants to remain a Flyer after next season maybe he will sign a hometown discount, as the Flyers will also look to re-sign Sean Couturier (Who is due a hefty raise).
Yegor Zamula:
Yegor Zamula will make his NHL debut tonight. He is a young 21-year-old defenceman that has a great hockey IQ. Zamula is fast, plays with an edge, is an offensive minded defenseman, very aggressive, especially in the offensive end that is how you know he’s confident. He will be the fourth Flyer to make his NHL debut this season: Wade Allison, Maksim Sushko, Tanner Laczynski, and Jackson Cates were the others.
Flyers Injury Updates:
Morgan Frost and Shayne Gostisbehere did skate yesterday at the Flyers Skate Zone. Fletcher did say it was highly unlikely Frost would be back in time before the season ended.
Flyers Head Coach Alain Vigneault said the Carter Hart felt good yesterday as he was at the Skate Zone earlier in the day.
Tanner Laczysnki will miss 16 weeks due to a torn labrum that he did have surgery on, per the Flyers. He should be ready for Training Camp in September/October.
