In comparison to the initial expectations set for the Philadelphia Flyers going into this season, the complete opposite has unfolded to this point. Despite that, there are still some positives to focus on surrounding the roster moving forward. Such as the play of the team’s newly signed college free agents Noah Cates, Bobby Brink and Ronnie Attard.
What the recent strong play of these three rookies at a level they are just getting familiar with does is indicate a hope for the future. As well as, a short glimpse into the next wave of Flyers prospects that we are going to see infused within the roster.
What all three prospects have been showing to date has been their tenacity on the ice, and willingness to show off their skill sets. They’ve also gotten the opportunity with these end of season tryouts to get a taste of the NHL game. For a young player just breaking into the league that can be important in terms of understanding what needs to be done to play at the NHL level. Along with the work it will take to improve their games moving forward.
As of now the Flyers have been putting this young talent in the positions to succeed. Brink has been in a top 6 and Power-Play role, while Cates has gotten a lot of ice time as well in different roles and some Power-Play ice time. Attard has also gotten some good looks with 3rd pair ice time to start his stint and some 1st pair and Power-Play ice time due to injury. The hope is that the Flyers will continue to place these young players in the correct positions to succeed, adapt to the NHL level, and continue to develop their skill.
