The Flyers are suffering with the injury bug at the moment, where media and fans alike are left once again scratching their heads. Carter Hart has not been placed on IR (Injured Reserve) with a mid body injury as of yet, but that could come tomorrow after further evaluation. What an unreal turn of events, as the Flyers now are missing Hart, Marc Staal, and Rasmus Ristolainen.

Cal Petersen has been recalled from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in Hart’s absence, and to make room for this transaction Victor Mete, who’s wife just had a baby, has been sent back to the Phantoms. The Flyers were carrying three goaltenders at one point, and they just sent down Felix Sandström for a conditioning stint that will last up to two weeks.

Theoretically, this isn’t a bad thing to get a look at a Samuel Ersson. Ersson has been struggling, so hopefully he finds his game in Hart’s absence. Hart has been good in the early going, so this injury comes at a bad time for the Flyers and him.

John Tortorella did confirm that Carter Hart sustained a mid body injury last night. There were no further details given about the nature of his injury, nor is one needed.

Taking us back to Hart’s injury. The Flyers just even the score at 2-2, and then his injury occurred. It’s a shame, but it’s good the Flyers have goaltending depth within their system to sustain this type of injury, without making a waiver move or a trade. There is never a dull moment in Flyer Land.

  1. I think Ersson needs some back to back games & get his legs underneath him…was strong last year…
