Carter Hart is the sole reason the Flyers are not a bottom five team at the moment. The Flyers continue to fight through “Speed” bumps, as they are enduring an up and down season at the moment. However, believe it or not Hart has played well and has given his team a shot on most nights, including Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils. Hart was decisive, and he made 10 bell save after 10 bell save. He is exactly the player you center a rebuild around.
Hart got off to a great start to the season, with his Goals Against Average well under two, and his Save Percentage was well over a .920, as well. Now the orange and black and Hart are winning one and losing one, and none of that fault lies on Hart. Hart currently has an 9-8-6 record, 2.76 GAA, and a .914 Save Percentage.

How many times have we heard, “Hart stands on his head for us. Hartsy’s making some big saves,” from Scott Laughton, or “He was big for us tonight,” Laughton said following the game this past Thursday against the Devils.
Hart continues to move post to post well, track pucks well, and has a hot glove hand. He continues to peppered with shots, but his rebound control has been exquisite as of late. This is a young Flyers team, so hopefully this teams finds their identity at some point since they are becoming healthier.
“Hart was good,” Scott Laughton said following the game, while Carter Hart says, “I got to be ready for everything. Just got to do your job and stop the puck. It was a big win for us.” As mentioned above, this young Flyers team claws their way back into games, and continues to fight in large part to some timely saves by Hart.
The young 24-year-old in Hart deserves better. Yes, the team was decimated with injuries at one point, especially up front, however, they can play the right way. If the team played the right way and stopped with the self-inflicting wounds with turnovers, then this team may not being predicament they are now. Let’s hope they get their acts together, and are able to start a winning streak against the New York Rangers tonight at 7pm.
Cam Atkinson
Cam Atkinson has been placed on Injured Reserve (IR), per the Flyers media website. I really hope he hasn’t suffered a setback, as he was nearing a return.
