The Flyers were getting pummeled, an onslaught was taking place with the Carolina Hurricanes up 6-2 with 17:52 to go in the second period. Hart goes down and the passionate fans of Philadelphia are left gasping for air.
Rasmus Ristolainen pushed a Cane into Hart and Hart flew back into the net.. He was then pulled for Samuel Ersson, to which Ersson made 25 saves on 30 shots faced in his NHL Debut.. Hart has an upper body injury, and that is all that was told to us from the Flyers.
Hart should be reevaluated following the Christmas break, so let’s hope it’s nothing serious. Fortunately, he can get a few good days of rest here following a mandatory holiday break by the league (December 24-December 26).
The Flyers need Hart, this would be a tall task to replave him. Fortunately, Ersson did not surrender a goal when he came back in to relieve Hart. Hopefully that gives him confidence.
Kevin Hayes
Kevin Hayes just looks disinterested and disengaged. I’ve personally never seen Hayes look this disinterested with players skating by him, with lackluster defensive effort to protect the two defensemen. The Canes were just skating by Hayes with no problem last night, with no fight back from Hayes.
Hayes was brought in as a defensive specialist…period. He was not known to be a goal scorer, rather his excellent penalty killing skills aided the Flyers in 2019-20. Yes he’s producing, but the attention to detail on the backend is brutal. Hayes isn’t in the right positions, just coasts to back check. It just looks like he’s doesn’t care.
This isn’t the Hayes that people know. Hayes has to get back to being more like himself, or he will find himself on the bench again. It’s hard to disagree with anyone when they say Hayes should move on..
All in all the Flyers made a nice comeback while being down 6-2. They made things interesting as they continue to go down with a fight, night after night. The orange and black lost last night 6-5, after netting three third period goals.
Fletcher’s big defenseman Risto who he overpaid to get then to save faced signed him to a ridiculous contract to find RIsto caused injury to Hart and caused a goal against in doing so.
