The Flyers dreadful, injury riddled season again took place well over a week ago in Philadelphia, where media and fans are left once again scratching their heads, as Carter Hart was placed on IR (Injured Reserve) with an upper body injury. What an unreal turn of events, where even John Tortorella was optimistic of Hart playing on this past road trip through California, even so much so that he said he didn’t know if the Flyers would rotate a three goalie system for this road trip in California.

According to Tortorella this past weekend, Hart passed his final evaluation for concussion protocol, but Tortorella elected to ride the hot-hand of Samuel Ersson against the Anaheim Ducks this past Monday night. However, even on the off day today, Hart has been activated off IR, and placed on the active roster. The Flyers roster now sits at 22 players, to include a three goalie system for the moment in Hart, Ersson, and Felix Sandstrom.

Theoretically, Hart could play tomorrow against the Arizona Coyotes. In the grand scheme of things, hopefully, Hart is finally ok as the lyers were rightfully precautious with him. But, it wasn’t a bad thing to get a look at an Samuel Ersson/Felix Sandström tandem. Let the young kids play, as opposed to bringing in a vet to clog up a spot.

John Tortorella did confirm that Carter Hart was in concussion protocol, and feeling good enough to practice. Hence the reason he traveled with the team on the road trip. It was great getting an extra look at Ersson though in the grand scheme of things, to make a positive out of a negative.

Taking us back to Hart’s injury. The Flyers were getting pummeled, an onslaught was taking place with the Carolina Hurricanes up 6-2 with 17:52 to go in the second period. Hart goes down and everyone was left gasping for air. Here is a picture of Hart practicing yesterday, and he is also on the ice practicing today. Just a weird turn of events, and never a dull moment in Flyer Land.
