Carter Hart is a 21-year-old netminder that was just phenomenal in his first full season with the Flyers, and for that matter it’s so rare to see a 21-year-old Goaltender excel the way Hart did. Harttacular posted a 24-13-3 record, with a 2.42 GAA, and a .914 Save Percentage. What more could one expect from a 21-year-old in just his first full season in the NHL. I mean if he had more starts he could be mentioned in a conversation for the Vezina Trophy.

Furthermore, Hart’s 2.42 GAA is good enough for 10th best in the league, however, their are some backup netminders that have a better GAA with some having just 12 starts, so his placing is skewed somewhat. The Goaltending position is one of the most unpredictable positions in the sport of hockey, and Hart just kicked butt in his first season at the helm for the Flyers. Hart also had the save of the year, and it was a beauty:

What makes this shot more perfect is Gritty can be seen in the background staring at Marchand as he whiffs right by the puck. Moreover, it’s unbelievable that Hart intimidated Marchand, as he went to take his shot in the shootout. Hart is only 21-years-old, and he’s already in the head of players. Crazy right!!!

Let’s hope hockey season reconvenes, and Flyers fans get to see what their prized possession in Hart is like in the playoffs. Hart is a rockstar for good reason in the City of Philadelphia, and remember folks what a save on Marchand for the game winner, it will never get old.
