The definition of a rising star is, “A person or thing that is growing quickly in popularity.” Well, Carter Hart is that guy for the Flyers. Gone are the days he has to walk into an establishment, and pay for a meal or beer throughout the City of Philadelphia. Hart is a rockstar in Philadelphia, and the proud orange clad fans have grown to love him and his family.
Hart hasn’t been able to spend Christmas with his family in years. In prior years, Hart has been playing in the WJC tournament following Christmas day, or otherwise working on his craft. This year Hart got to spend Christmas with his mom, dad, and sister in Philadelphia, “My parents, and sister are coming out. I am really look forward to it. First time in years. They are really important to me.”
It’s the little things that go unnoticed about Hart to the eye of a person. He loves his family, friends, and Connor Parkilla. Hart is also now living by himself in the City of Brotherly Love. All of these things that are sometimes taken for granted by some, well it has helped him get to this point in his hockey career.
Of course, Hart doesn’t forget that Brian Elliott has really helped him this season. Elliott and Hart have a great relationship on and off the ice, “Moose and I get along very well,” Hart said, “We joke around. We just have a lot of fun together. We have healthy competition, as we are both playing really well right now. It’s fun. We have a great group of guys here.”
Hart has worked with Goalie Coach Kim Dillabaugh on cutting down his angles, and he has also become bigger in the net. This is all very noticeable during the games recently. Moreover, Hart’s rebound control has gotten better too as the season has progressed. However, if there is one part of Hart’s game he knows he can get better at it’s definitely stick handling, “I will continue to work,” Hart says, “We have been playing good hockey. 16 games in 30 days, and back to backs almost every weekend. It’s tough. But, we are having fun.”
This young man has electrified the fan base, and has cemented himself as the guy between the pipes for the orange and black for years to come. Let’s make no mistake about it, this is Hart’s net this year. There is no Goalie controversy in Philadelphia for once.
Hart is the real deal, and he takes all the blame for a loss. That’s what good players do. Hart will continue to have a lot of highs, but some lows, as well. We as people just have to remember, he is just a 21-year-old human being, that is able to have some lows, as well.
Our very own Yariv Wolok completed a player profile video of Hart yesterday. Check it out:
MERRY CHRISTMAS and a great new year from all of us in everett.
