New guy Nate Prosser tallies a goal, along with Claude Giroux for their first of the year. Sweep the series. Takeaways from the game.
Carter Hart stands tall, a new defenseman in the lineup, and a solid win. Let’s get into it.
Let’s welcome the new guy Flyers fans everywhere were asking themselves today, “Who is Nate Prosser”?
Well, we got our answer quick in the first period. Nate was paired up along side Erik Gustafsson in his first game with the Orange and Black and didn’t disappoint. He tallied his first goal at 9:23 in the first period on a rebound goal. We don’t know how long Nate will be in the lineup, but let’s enjoy it while we can. An impressive first game for the new Flyers defenseman with a need of some defensive help, Prosser played a solid game and earns the “Player of the game” award. Nate Prosser finishes with a goal on one shot and an ice time of 13:12.
Outshot throughout
You’re not going win many games when you only have four shots on net each period, and are allowing 24 shots on net after two periods of play. The Devils had 14 shots in the first period and 10 in the second. Carter Hart has been the best player on the ice for the Flyers, stopping 23/24 through two. The defense will have to tighten up going forward if they want to stay in the playoff hunt. Shoot the puck. Generate chances and get the puck on goal. Claude Giroux scores a goal tonight on a clean shot by Erik Gustafsson (who finishes with two assists) redirected infringe of the net. Get the puck in front, and you never know what can happen. The Devils finish with 34 shots total, letting up 10 shots in the third period.
Carter Hart
A strong game back Coming off of two disappointing starts for Flyers goaltender Carter Hart, he certainly was ready to retake the crease in tonight’s matchup against the Devils. Carter Hart looked like the Hart we all know and love. Early on, he looked out of position a little bit and let up an early goal, but rebounded back for a stellar performance facing 34 shots and letting up one goal, also registering a .971 GAA for tonight’s matchup.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it
