Last season the Flyers were 0-40-1 after falling behind by two or more goals. This season they are 2-0. Moreover, last season the Flyers were 5-36-4 after allowing the first goal, this year they are 3-0. It’s the Torts effect, or the Flyers new slogan they are living by early in the season, Fueled by Philly.

Flyers appear to have formed a new identity, one that includes resilience, they are the comeback kids in just three games played. Folks your Philadelphia Flyers are undefeated, 3-0. I know it shocks many, but Carter Hart is on fire, while sporting a .943 Save Percentage.

Last night, Hart backstopped 37 blasts, and he finished the game with a .949 Save Percentage. He tracked the pucks well, he energized his club. Finally they beat the Lightning, whom entered their home opener 6-0-4 in their last 10 games against the Flyers.

A young Noah case scored the game winner, while JvR added a Power Play goal. Yes, the Flyers have scored a Power Play goal in three straight games. This did not happen last season. Rocky Thompson took some flack by some Flyers fans when he was hired, but it appears the Flyers are honing in on his system with the man advantage. Tony DeAngelo there’s a power play expert, and the way he cycles the puck while quarterbacking the power play is unlike something the Flyers haven’t had in a few seasons. DeAngelo chipped in a power play assist last night, while Scott Laughton tallied his second goal in as many games.

Hart was spectacular last night. He could have caved after the Lightning led 2-0, but Hart placed the Flyers on his back. For his efforts, he made timely saves, tough saves. Hart was rocking, “We’re just trying to get a win, doesn’t matter who we are playing,” Hart said following the game.

“Carter (Hart) was outstanding, he kept us in it.” – John Tortorella said following the Lightning game

Tortorella then continued, “I think some of our young guys were a bit overwhelmed tonight.” This is what makes a great coach, he is never satisfied with a victory, even a victory against a really tough opponent like the Lightning. Tonight they play in their first back-to-back of the season against the Florida Panthers.
