The Flyers have recalled goaltender Carson Bjarnason from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL). This move was announced today (February 17, 2026) by the Flyers.

It’s primarily to provide extra Goaltending depth and practice support while Dan Vladar is away for the Olympics. Instead of recalling Aleksei Kolosov (another prospect/goalie option), the team opted for the 20-year-old Bjarnason to get some time with the big club.
- Official transaction — Flyers recalled Bjarnason from the AHL.
- Purpose — Serve as a second/emergency goalie for practices and backup needs during Vladar’s absence.
- Context — Bjarnason, drafted by the Flyers in the 2nd round (No. 51) of the 2023 NHL Draft, has been developing in the AHL with the Phantoms this season (stats around 11-6-3, 3.03 GAA, .891 SV% in recent reports).

This gives the young prospect valuable NHL-level exposure without immediate pressure to play games.
