The Flyers are looking to redeem themselves, and make some noise in the playoffs this season. Well, they are off to a solid campaign in 2019-20. Of course, with some highs, a team encounters some adversity. Well, look no further than a four game losing streak that saw the Flyers travel 14,000+ in six games played, and the Flyers will be faced with more adversity. JVR broke his right-hand while blocking a shot in the first period of a 5-2 victory against the Washington Capitals, and did not return to the game. Alain Vigneault said, “It didn’t look good,” at the start of the second period on the broadcast of the game, and boy he was right.
Joel Farabee gets another shot to make an imprint with the orange and black. Drafted by the Flyers in 2018 at 14th overall. Farabee has seen action with the AHL Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and he torched his opponents. For the Phantoms, he has registered three goals, to go along with one apple in five games played with the Phantoms. Not too shabby I must say. Moreover, Farabee plays a 200 foot game, and is just so darn good at killing penalties. It becomes very attractive to stay up with the big club for good, based off those reasons alone.
“The thing with Joel is his game is so much more advanced than the other kids,” Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher said last month, “He’s one of the best Forwards with puck management. I wish he could get more than 10 minutes a night.”
This young stud in Farabee does the little things well, like draw penalties, and plays solid defense. For Farabee, the time is now. One thing is certain Flyers fans, the future is bright in Flyer land.
