John Tortorella is impressed these days with the youth, to include Bobby Brink and Tyson Foerster. Both are locked into a heated battle for possibly only one spot, but both have been very impressive at camp and in game action.
Brink threaded a beautiful backhand pass on the first gold Cam Atkinson last night, but he is doing all the right things these days. He’s drawing penalties, he’s creating turnovers, he’s producing. You name it he’s doing it.
Foerster is also doing all the right things these days. He’s playing very well away from the puck. He’s creating turnovers, he has his stick in the passing lanes, Andy’s producing with an assist last night.
That’s just it both Foerster and Brink throughout camp thus far. With only a handful of games left in the pre-season, really both are deserving a spot that this particular time. However, in order for that to happen they would have to keep producing.
“He’s been great. A guy like Bobby plays with a ton of skill, he shows it every single time he’s out there. He’s making a case for himself and it’s good to see,” Cam Atkinson said of Bobby Brink. While Joel Farabee sounded off on Brink, as well, “Really good player. He really sees the ice so well. He’s really good with the puck, and I like playing with him.”
Farabee continues on both Brink and Tyson Foerster, “They are both super good players. Both have looked great and deserve spots on this team. They’re only going to get better, learning from Cam and Coots.”
Will one, or even both make the opening night lineup? We shall see, but Thursday nights lineup will be more of the opening night lineup, so it will be interesting to see how Tortorella utilizes both players for the sixth and final pre-season game. For their efforts, Brink has tallied one goal and two assists in four pre-season games played, while Foerster has registered one assist in three pre-season games played.
