The Flyers have been a little busy lately with navigating the injury bug lately with the likes of Travis Konecny, Jamie Drysdale, and Rasmus Ristolainen on the shelf with injuries. With that being said, as I previously reported earlier Ristolainen was placed on Injured Reserve (IR), and now they have recalled Forward Bobby Brink from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Lycksell continues to be the yo-yo, as he keeps getting recalled and scratched, but he did play top minutes against the Pittsburgh Penguins this past Sunday. He is, however, having a stellar AHL season as he potted his 18th goal of the season this past weekend. He also has chipped in 14 assists for 32 points in 34 games played for the Phantoms.

This move makes sense for Brink

As John Tortorella once noted, they we’re going to be faced with some tough decisions moving forward, this was one of them with sending Brink down with a healthy roster. Tortorella has stated that he does not like benching any player, especially the youth, but he really had no other choice in this matter. This move made sense for the organization at the time, and most of all Brink. He needs to play, and benching him just hindered his development and confidence. At least now, he has restored his lost confidence, as Brink has chipped in six goals and five assists in 11 games played for the Phantoms.

Brink has hit the rookie wall, and this happens to most prospects. Some are able to come out of it sooner than other prospects, this is just part of the growing process. His last point was on December 31, 2023, which was a goal scored. Since then, he played in seven games with the big club, and has been a healthy scratch for six games. He needs to play…period, so hopefully this is a good sign of things to come.

Do not worry Flyers fans, Brink still had top six upside, he just needs to figure a few things out. One cannot forget this is a rebuild season, so development of the youth is critical.

Flyers Updates:

John Tortorella is unsure of the length of time Jamie Drysdale will miss.

Maybe Felix Sandström will get a look in the future

Travis Konecny is out, and possibly a Forward will be scratched tonight. Tortorella is unsure of the lineup, especially with Tyson Foerster missing morning skate
