Flyers Head Coach John Tortorella gave some bad news in regards to two important updates on the Flyers number one Center Sean Couturier and Winger Cam Atkinson today. Couturier, unfortunately, has suffered a setback, and is no longer skating. For those that forget, he had back surgery back in February. He also sustained a setback this past summer, but was given good information from the the doctor a few weeks ago and shortly thereafter began skating again. Fortunate news coming out of Flyers camp today.

Atkinson has remained sidelined all season, as well, from an undisclosed upper body injury. He went from possibly playing in the pre-season, to possibly playing in the home opener, to day-to-day, and now it’s been weeks. Unfortunately, he is no longer skating, and Atkinson’s status remains uncertain.

Both of these players are important pieces to the overall success of the team. Without these two for an extended period of time, the hurdle of making some noise in the Metropolitan Division becomes that much tougher.

Overall, this is not the news any fan wants to hear of this team. Hopefully both of these good players return to full health, and are able to make an impact this season.
