The Flyers now have seven picks within the first two rounds of the 2025 NHL Draft. Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere added to his stockpile following a that involved Jakob Pelletier and Andrei Kuzmenko. He has the ammo to make one heck of a deal for a Center, in the future. With that being said, today Kuzmenko was flipped to the Los Angeles Kings for a third round pick in 2027. Unfortunately, the Flyers are retaining money, as well.

The Flyers are receiving a 2027 Third Round Pick, retaining 50% of Kuzmenko’s salary, and in return for retainment they will receive a 2025 seventh round pick.

First things first, Kuzmenko is a native of Yakutsk, Russia. He played in the KHL, and as a matter of fact he played with Matvei Michkov in the 2021-22 season. Kuzmenko stands at 5’11 and weighs 194 pounds. He was originally traded by the Vancouver Canucks to the Calgary Flames in 2024. Kuzmenko, believe it or not, is a former 30+ goal scorer, as he netted 39 goals in the 2022-23 season with the Canucks.

Kuzmenko is a streaky scorer. He doesn’t play a power game, nor he is a penalty killer. Kuzmenko also needs more defensively, especially with the way Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella likes to use his players for their two-way game.

Kuzmenko actually played well in his brief stint as a Flyer. Fir his efforts, he netted two goals and three assists in seven games played. This is good asset management by Flyers General Manager Danny Briere, and it doesn’t close the door on possibly re-signing him in free agency for the 2025-26 season.
